UniQ Auckland exists to foster and further the interests and well-being of all gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, takataapui and fa'afafine students (hereafter referred to as queer students) at the University of Auckland.
We gather at Alleluja café in St Kevin’s arcade on K Road every Thursday at 6pm during semester time. Our gatherings are weekly, and they provide a social environment where you can chat and meet new people and make friends. We hold and promote activities beneficial to the university life of queer students, and aim to secure the co-operation of the students association and the University in doing so. We’re part of a network of queer groups at tertiary institutions around New Zealand.
While many of our activities are social, such as movie nights, we have also been involved in political campaigns and lobby for queer students on campus and nationally.
